Admission into the program requires two applications, one to the Graduate College and another to the Student Affairs Master's Program. The Graduate College does not require a GRE score. However, the Student Affairs Master's Program does require an official GRE score. Keep in mind that the GRE is only a factor in your overall acceptance into the program. Legally you may not be excluded solely on your GRE score.
Classes are available from 3:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday during the spring and fall semesters. Each class lasts approximately two hours and 50 minutes. Summer classes are offered at various times. Classes you take for your electives could be offered during the day.
The master's program is cohort-based, which means that students take a majority of their courses with one another as full-time students. We allow part-time students into the program only under special circumstances. If you have a full-time position, we prefer that it be in student affairs so that you get the maximum benefit of application-based instruction.
Assistantships are available to almost every student in our cohort. We offer many graduate assistantships, encompassing almost every area of student affairs at Texas State.
The Graduate College provides information on scholarships and grants that are available to graduate students.

Applying for student loans is also an option.
All materials must be received by the Graduate College by February 15 for full consideration.
Contact Sheila Reynolds, sr35@txstate.edu, to schedule a tour of the campus and make arrangements to attend a class with the current program students. We would also like to have prospective students on campus for the optional day during the Graduate Assistant Interviews. During the interview event, we schedule opportunities for a campus tour and a classroom viewing. We highly encourage students to take advantage of these opportunities during the interview weekend to avoid making two trips to San Marcos.
Absolutely! International students contribute to the diversity and cultural fabric of the student affairs program and to the Texas State community.
Assistantships are not required, but there are many available positions. Students are strongly encouraged and helped to find a position. The Student Affairs Master's Program is based on application of theory and students maximize their learning by integrating classroom activities with actual practice.
The program admits only in the fall. Applications for the spring may be accepted only under extraordinary circumstances.
